Christophe Mérieux Laboratory (CML) management is under the supervision of the Executive Committee and the guidance of the Scientific Committee, which include top-level leaders and experts from both the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS) and the Fondation Mérieux. It is housed in approximately 1,000 square meters of space and includes biosafety level-2 laboratories (BSL-2) and an access to a biosafety level-3 laboratory (BSL-3) through collaboration with the Institute of Pathogen Biology.

Missions and objectives

  • Research: Sustainable contribution to global development of virus discovery technology and discovery of new viruses, as well as providing of new concepts and tools of diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment evaluation of important viral infectious diseases.

  • Service: A key player that contributes to China’s emergency response to infectious diseases.

  • Training: Provider and collaborator of knowledge and skills to GABRIEL network partners.
